My Planning continues as I am 30 days out from heading north on my first trip with my gold wing. After I spend some time in Maine I will be heading to Rutland, Vt to a district rally for gold wings on the 17th of July. From there I will be heading back to Panama City Beach. I have already started packing my Trailer with things I want to take to Maine. Today I rode with my Gold Wing Club to Howard Creek. We had hobo stew and homemade ice cream. When I get out and ride like today, it makes me want to leave on my trip right away. It was a beautiful ride on the back roads,(as I try to stay off major Highways). I still need to wire up my Trailer hitch and I ordered the wiring Harness from chrischrome.Com. I also have an Appointment on the 20th of June to get all fluids checked and get new front breaks if needed. I will ride to enterprise, Al to get Joe to get everything ready for my trip. Joe has a small shop but is very good and knows his Gold Wings. He is a great Mechanic and very entertaining while he works on your Wing. I have added a picture of my trailer. I still have to get it registered and will do that this month.
Until next time........
Well it is spring of 2008 and I haven’t updated this website for a while, but that is going to change. I have bought a 1989 Goldwing and have triked it out. I love riding it and I am planning some trips on it this year. I have gotten out of traveling and want to get back into it. My first trip will be to Maine to see my family but I am taking the long route. I am going to the wingding in Greenville, S
C. From there I plan on heading to the Outer banks and up the coast to Va. beach, Va. I haven’t been there since I was stationed at Norfolk, NAS. Those were some great times and my son Chris was born there. From there I am planning to travel to see my mother and brother in Lewes, De. And spend a couple of days with them. My brother Ray is going to ride down to Lewes and we are going to take the ferry across to Cape May. He has a beach house there. I will spend a day or 2 there and then heading to Meadowbrook camping, in Bath, Me. This will be my first trip and I will be doing a lot of planning.
Until next time....
Well it has been a busy summer here at Meadowbrook Camping Area in Phippsburg, Me. I have been working at the campground since April and we have had a very busy summer. I got a report from my daughter that we have cooked 2380 lbs of lobster an many more pounds of Clams. Here at the Campground we have about 125 sites and many of a night they were all full with people parked everywhere. Some of the improvements we made this year was Wi Fi through out the campground. We put a new liner in the pool and move the Gazebo from the main lawn to the pool area. I will be heading out next week. I will be heading to Lisbon, Ct. for a campground owners retreat. One of the things I like doing is going to other campgrounds and getting ideas for Meadowbrook. I did manage a trip to Greenville, Maine. lil Chris ( my Grandson) went up and stayed with Skip Hickey at his camp in Shirley, just outside of Greenville and we got to see Moosehead lake. It was a relaxing weekend. Fort Western, in Augusta. I am posting a picture of lil Chris at Fort Western.

Although I will miss by kids and grandchildren it will be nice to get back to Panama City Beach, Fl. and see all my friends. I enjoy dancing and there are not a lot of places to go up here. I will be making a lot of stops along the way. I will keep you updated as I go.
Until next time.........
Today is the day before I am leaving Meadowbrook. I am getting the rig ready to move. It is a crisp fall day and it was in the forty’s last night. Glad I brought my tomato plant in. It is still producing tomatoes This is blue angle weekend at NAS Brunswick. The campground is like a ghost town with everyone gone to the Air Show. With 20 years in Naval Aviation, I deceided to listen to it from here. After All it is the Sound of freedom. I have been stationary for over 4 months. This is the longest I have been in one place. So it takes a lot to get ready to move. Everything has to be in it’s place.
I headed out this morning and it was hot just like summer. Indian summer in Maine is beautiful. I will miss everyone. I and heading for Ross Hill Park, family campground in Lisbon Ct.
It has been and uneventful trip and I arrived Ross Hill Park about 2pm there staff was welcoming and friendly. After a bike ride, I rode around the park and found out this RV park is on the Banks of the Quinebaug River. This is a beautiful Park. I will be leaving Thursday.
My next stop was Gettysburg, Pa., one of my favorite areas. I stayed at Artillery Ridge Campground, Which is a Passport America Park, and I had a great stay. I stayed 4 days.

The first day I rode up to the Pa Monument to look for my Great Grandfathers name, but there was so many names I didn’t know what outfit he was in. That night my T-mobile internet was working so I did a google search and found a site that all you have to do is type in name of individual and sure enough I found my Great Grandfather, Lewis B. Heckroth. The next day I rode my bicycle back up to the monument and I found his
name.

Gettysburg was a great and I headed for the next stop on my journey. On the road by 9am and I was heading to Williamsburg, Va.
It was and easy 5 hour trip from Gettysburg, to Williamsburg and I was within my 350 mile limit. This limit was set so I didn’t have to stop and get gas with my trailer hooked up. I have found that it is easier that way. I arrived at and I stayed at a campground across from The Jamestown settlement and I can’t remember the name of it but I left the next morning. I was very unhappy with it. It needed a lot of work and I Had no wireless, so I moved up to Anvil Campground just inside of Williamsburg. This was a much better campground and I stayed there a week. It is a very small RV Park but it has a lot of friendly people in it. Williamsburg is a very Bicycle friendly town. I rode bat down to Jamestown settlement and toured the settlement and it was worth every penny. From there I took the colonial Hwy back to Historic Williamsburg and for a week I did nothing but ride my bike 25 miles a day. I really enjoyed my self.
From Williamsburg I headed to Wilson, N C to a passport America park.
Until next time.....
Up the Road & Around the Bend
By
Tom Mixon
Assistant State Director, Good Sams of Florida
As this is the first article for the Wahoo News, I would like to explain what and where I will be getting my information., and who I am... First of all I should explain that I am a Full Time RV’er (which means that I live in my RV full time). I travel to different places and events in my 34 foot Class A motorhome that I purchased from Holiday on Wheels over 2 years ago. I would like to share my experiences and thoughts with you. This is a new way of life for me and I have found out that there are over 1 million full timers out there traveling around the country. I consider Panama City Beach my home and so this is where I always start and come back to. I am 57
years old and I love the freedom that I have, and as you travel with me through my articles, you will find that all I need is an excuse or a reason to go somewhere, and it doesn’t need to be much of and excuse or a reason. I love the thrill of finding out what is UP THE ROAD & AROUND THE BEND and making new friends.
As Assistant State Director for the Good Sams of Florida, my responsibility is to represent the five active Good Sam chapters in the Panhandle and to support the state Good Sams of Florida, under the State director Warren Bradley and his wife Ginny. You will hear me talk a lot about these two great people. In this area we have 2 active chapters the Miracle Strip Sams and the Centennial Sams. These two Chapters are active in the Panama City area and are always looking for new members. These chapters go on organized campouts once a month. More info can be obtained at www. goodsams-florida.org. As the year is just starting, the first event I will be traveling to is the 2005 Florida RV Super Show at the state fairgrounds in Tampa. Last year was the first time I attend this show for one day, but this year, I will there from Wednesday, Jan 12th through Sunday Jan 16th and will be camping on the fairgrounds. This is a lot of fun because you get to see old friends and make new ones. My son from Maine will also be flying down to join me. He is the current owner of Meadowbrook Camping Area, in Bath, Maine, (www,Meadowbrookme.com). What ever you want in connection with RVing you can find at this show.
February 9th to the 13th will be the Good Sams of Florida, Winter Samboree in Tallahassee, Fl.. This is always a great time. Plenty of friends, food, vendors, seminars, and entertainment make up the schedule . There are outdoor and indoor games and a good time is usually had by all. Applications can be obtained online at WWW. goodsams-florida.org. Come and join use will be trying to start a singles chapter called the Solo Sams II. I would like to Congratulate the New officers of the Miracle Strip Sams: Jack Depue, President, Dick Standish, Vice President, Linda Fahlgren Secretary, and Nancy Depue, Treasurer. For more information on this club you can call Jack Depue at 763-0889. I will include a survey in each article and post the results in the next month’s column.
The question this month is: do you belong to an RV club, and if so which one? (Good
Sam, FMCA, or other)
