Natchez Trace

Starting the Trace

As a lot of you Know the Natchez Trace has always been a Place to ride and enjoy. It is one of my favorites places to go. Natchez is a Great town and i haven’t been their in the last few years i saw that they have really changed the Downtown.  One of my favorite movies is “the Iron Mistress” with Alan Ladd playing the part Of Jim Bowie.  I recommend  that anyone going to natchez, Ms watch that film.  Natchez Under the Hill Tavern which is still their is where He had his famous Knife Fight.

But back to the trace, Their are so many books out their on the Natchez Trace, and if you really want to enjoy the trace you should read a few of them, Also at the Parkway Visitor center they have a 12 minute film that is very good.  I Left Starksville, Ms this morning and started up the trace.  The Trace is one of the Best 100 roads to ride on the Motorcycle. Evey through i ride a Trike i figure it still counts.   I found out that all camping on the Trace is free.  What a great deal. I am sitting here in one of the parks  writing on my blog.  one of the best thing i saw today was the Indian Mounds. I past several but here is a pic i took of one. The weather was off and on rain showers all day but riding the trace is very relaxing.  50 miles per hour is all you are allowed.  At about 60 mile marker i stopped at an old campground i stayed at years ago.  It was raining pretty hard.  Their was a couple on motorcycles their and they were waiting for rain to stop. They were from Toronto Canada. As i headed further up the trace it was very quiet.  Just a relaxing ride. In the film i had seen at the visitor center, they were talking about Meriwether Lewis who was part of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. He was found dead in a house on the Trace.  They suspect he committed Suicide, but the nickname for the Natchez Trace is called “The Devils Hy way”   so who really knows for sure. He is buried here on the trace and the campground that bears  his

Meriwether Lewis Marker

name is very nice but no hook-ups.  I will spend today resting here reading the latest Clive Cussler Book. Nice cool day and going back to my book now.

Stayed Tune.

Well I had a nice surprise in the afternoon. I relaxing reading my new Clive Cussler  book ” the Bootlegger” and i heard a M/C drive up in front of my camper. It was Shamus from Tn came buy and we talked for an hour or two.  then he headed home.  That is advantage of posting on the forums and meeting new people  After talking for a few minutes we figured out we flew the same type of airplanes in the navy P-2V’s.

The Next day i was riding the last part of the trace. It was a great ride and when i left the trace i knew i would be back but for now i completed another one of the 100 best m/c rides in USA.
