08/19/09              Started talking about this 2 weeks ago but have set a goal and I will start planning this trip.  I set goals sometime without knowing if it is achievable, but will start working towards the goal.  The goal is to ride my trike to panama canal and back to panama city beach, fl.  Leaving week around Christmas and see how long it takes.  One of the websites that I am using for planning is http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ this is a great website and I will be leaving for the east coast meeting tomorrow morning at 5 am heading to Robbinsville, nc.

08/20/09//113861            6 am on my way to horizons unlimited meeting.  Should take about 8 hours.

491 miles later I am in Robbinsville, nc and found a place to stay for $50.00 for 3 nights. No Hilton but has bed and shower.  And is clean.   Very little rain not enough to worry about. Will ride tail of dragron  today and meeting at iron horse at about 4 pm.

08/21/09//114352            Beautiful day cool and Sunny.  Heading for coffee and riding. Rode 218 miles today and went to HU meetings last night and met a couple from Tallahassee.  Rode the tail of dragon and got some beautiful pictures.

08/22/09// 114570  8 am up and about and looking for coffee.

08/31/09// i received an email from a lady in Vancouver Island, B. C. about possibly riding together in Mexico. we have been emailing back and forth and am looking forward to more communication with her about possibility riding together on up coming trip.

09/02/09// getting ready for trip to North carolina first weekend in Oct. gave about  5 people so far that want to go.  we will ride skyway and then the dragon .  it should be alot of fun.

09/06/09 // I am on http://www.horizonsunlimited.com getting ideas of places to ride.  one of the trips i am looking at for next year is Canada Transamerican HWY across Canada and then down California coast to US Rt 50 and back to east coast.  Could stop and see brother Mike in lewes. De, and Brother Ray in Cape May, NJ and then make it back for hunting season in maine in Nov.  I am watching all posts and looking for places to stop and see along the way.  i am looking at heading out of Maine on Sept 1st 2010

09/08/09  Had Jury duty this morning and got to visit the courthouse in Bay county. this was also place of  an historic court case, Gideon Vs Wainwright. If you want to see the story look up Gideon’s Trumpet starring Henry Fonda.

09/11/09    Heading to dothan, al for region A goldwing Rally. then maybe harbor frieht store in Dothan.  I am off today.

09/18/09    Had lunch with thomas lee, doug degood, and met cliff and sandy from vernon, fl. These are few of friends that want to ride dragon. we will be leaving Panama city, coramns on rt 231 heading to NC to ride the tail  of dragon.  we are leaving on 2 Oct o09 at 7 am will meet up with cliff and sandy at al welcome center on 231.  Looks like Barry tate is going to make it, and go with us but he won’t know until next week.  doug degood the owner of Domino”s Pizza treated us to a great lunch and as always i had Macaroni & Cheese, my favorite.  tks doug !!

10/01/09  It was 5 am when i got up to get ready for the trip to NC. By 6 i was on my way to corams on rt 231 to meet up with other guys. looks like we have a total of 5 people going to dragon.  We have doug degood, richard, Dougs son, gregg lessor, thomas lee, and my self. it was cool morning and i was wearing jacket. when i arrived at corams i saw thomas lee was already here. so we had breakfast. doug,greggand richard were late so we finnally got started about 715 am and headed north on 231. it was 491 miles to Deals gap and we pulled in about 7 pm and found the house. I was worried driving after dark with our new rider Thomas Lee. After we unloaded our bags we decided to go into town and have diner. The cabin was 12 miles from robbinsonville so we headed to town for a great meal.  we got home about 10 am after eating and started a fire in the wood stove. it was getting chilly. after checking my email and updating facebook i hit the rack. the place we are staying is great  www.fourseasonscabinrentals.com we paid $100.00 per night and it slept up to 14 people. 5 bedrooms some with bunk beds.

10/02/09 I didn’t wake up until 9 am and i haven’t slept that late since i was 14 years old.  It was 37 degrees and foggy but we were on our way by 10 am. down to town for coffee and mcdonalds and then heading for skyway we would ride the skyway first and have lunch at this little place i know at end of skyway. they make great sandwiches.

By the time we hit the Cherohala Skyway we were still wearing jackets but the sun was out.  It was warming up. it was a great ride and by time we got back to Panama City Beach, Fl. we rode over 1200 miles.

10/15/09 wet and rainy but i am getting ready for a trip tomorrow am. Doug Degood and i are heading to biketoberfest in Daytona Beach, Fl.  i went last year and Doug has never been. we will be staying at Lake Mary, fl.

10/16/09 It was raining all night and we postponed our departure 30 minutes. we finally got on the road around 0730 am.  it was cloudy and raining very slightly.  We hit heavy rain south of Perry, fl but it let up by Chiefland, fl. we had off and on rain all the way to Lake Mary, fl.

10/17/09 We headed out for breakfast and then to daytona. Our first stop was for chaps for Doug.  he found a pair and also a Vest. the first Venue was at speedway. It was sunny and a warm day. and i got sunburn on my face.

10/18/09 It was only 48 degrees when we got up and headed out. i wore my full face helmet for the first time. i have had a hard time finding one that is comfortable.  we had a beautiful ride home stopping in east point where most of the oysters come from. we arrived home about 430 pm and we rode close to 1100 miles. turned over 119,000 miles on honda.

10/21/09 well my next trip will be to maine in first week in Nov for hunting with son and grandkids, but will be taking my Cage (truck). it will be good to see everyone.

01/01/2010 Happy new year 2010. has it been 10 years since y2k scare?? WOW I turned over 120,000 miles on my trike yesterday.  goining fo 20k miles this year. there is still a lot of country to see. and i haven’t even started on mexico or canada. would like to ride to artic circle this year. i am working on plans for that.  my next trip is to orlando in feb to a ham radio hamfest.  always looking for new antennas and new equipment.  looking at spending time in maine this year with grand kids and family.  It just turned 50 degrees here in Panama city Beach, fl.

01/02/2010 Well another cold day but going to bundle up and go  to destin on trike. 32 degrees but sunny.Got my Avmap G5 talking to my Kenwood Tm-d710 2 mtr rig. i finally figured out what my problem was.  hpe to have apr’s on my wing by feb. posted a motorcycle day trip in maine i went on on facebook check it out under notes

01/03/2010 30 degrees when i got up at 7 am. Question of the day “is this really Florida”  if it gets to 50 with sun out i am going to ride to st andrews for article i am writing Campground is busy but looks like people are getting ready to head home after long weekend.  I have been playing with my google reader and really love it. it saves me alot of time logging into different sites.  guess i have to go back to work tomorrow.  oh well i love my job.

01/06/2010  27 degrees this morning.  but i am riding  my trike.  rode 2 times to destin yesterday. need a better set of gloves. The only part of me that was cold was my right hand.  Found a really cool website yesterday. the only problem is it does not have RSS feed. Websites that don’t have RSS feeds only hurt themselves.  check out www.motocampers.com

01/09/2010 25 degrees here this morning when i got up.  i am beginning not tolike this place as the weather sucks lately.  the sun is out and i am hoping to ride later on today.  As you all know i am changing my life in april. i am moving back to maine to be closer to family.  i am going to help son with campground and next winter i will going to try mexico for a month to see if i like it their.

01/10/2010 24 degress this morning but plenty of wind and sun.  riding to church with CMA Christian Motorcycle Association.  we are to meet at macdonalds at 9 am on thomas dr.  hpe everyone has a great day.

01/11/2010  26 degrees but going to 45 today and the temp will be rising all week. in 60′s by fri. want to take a day trip and write about it this weekend.  will be going back to work this morning. for sales meeting.  and then go visit a coupler of clients to get there websites moving.  anything over 30 is good for riding. no wind today like yesterday.  LET”S RIDE!!! hpe u all have a great day.

01/12/2010 37 degrees this morning and this is weather i can live with. if eveything goes good i am taking ride to Clarabelle, fl on fri and write a day trip for website.  will be heading to destin this morning hopefully getting another contract. only 2 and 1/2 more months and i will be heading north, can’t wait to see kids and grandkids.  I got my plans yesterday for building my camper.  thought i was going to be able to do this but will need help, so i will be looking for someone to help me. hpe u have a great day!!!!

01/13/2010 33 degrees and yesterday was a lot warmer. rode  to Destin and then back along 30A . plenty of sun and riding was great.  temps are warming up. should be a good day. hpe urs is good

01/14/2010 36 degrees this morning but going  to 60 by end of day. GREAT!!! went dancing last night and saw a lot of friends  and had a good time. back to work today and looking for day off tomorrow. might go on day trip on might wait until sunday. depends on weather.  i received 2 comments on my motorcycle day trips in maine. will be posting some history of our area in bath, me on the blog.hpe u have a great day.
