Crooked River Lighthouse, Carrabelle, Florida

January 31, 2014 by Triker Tom 1 Comment

On the way home from Bike week, I stopped at Crooked River Lighthouse. Carrabelle is known as the forgotten coast, but is one of the scenic rides and i love to ride along the coast. The crooked River lighthouse was built in 1895 and is 103 ft tall. It was built after the Dog Island lighthouses were  destroyed by hurricanes. The site included 2 keeper’s houses built one on each side of lighthouse. Electricity came to the 1933.

It sounds like a great week, even if it did seem to vasinh. I love visiting lighthouses. I also enjoy the beach in winter. We’re quite a distance from the ocean now, but I grew up not far from it. I sometimes miss it. The pond helps (and satisfies my need to be near the water). My week flew by also, each day filled with a variety of things from internet time to gardening to hard labor on the patio project. In between there was yoga practice every day and walks around the pond. A good week, all in all. Robin recently posted..
